Yes, we have officially changed our name to Riverside Family Church, having been known as Southampton Christian Fellowship. Please read on to find out about our history as an established Assemblies of God church.

Who we are...

We became known as Southampton Christian Fellowship in the early 1980's with the purchase of the Augustine Centre. Formerly, we had met in another location of the city and were known as the Pentecostal Church.

Our church building was originally an Anglican Church that had been closed down by the diocese. We purchased it and began the task of transforming it from an old, traditional style building into a venue more adaptable for a growing, charismatic church.

As of the 1st January 2010, we took on a new name again. You might ask, "What's in a name?" Well, we believe that names are important because they say something about who we are and what we believe.

We are a Christian Church who believe that the answer to all our problems can be found in Jesus Christ. We feel that the name Riverside is relative to where our building is situated as the River Itchen is close by. We believe that our new name speaks of the way in which we want to see the love of God flowing out into our community and beyond. We are also a family church where you will meet people from many different cultures, backgrounds and ages who all come together as one family, where everyone is valued and equal.

Riverside Family Church is committed to working alongside other churches in the city of Southampton, seeking to build the Kingdom of God and see lives transformed by the power of Jesus Christ.

This Church is part of the Assemblies of God movement in Great Britain and Ireland and a member of the Evangelical Alliance
Locally, we are part of the
Southampton Christian Network
